Mod (abbreviation of Modernism) was born in the late 1950s in London with teenagers, whose families were connected to the tissue trade. The first Mods were middle-class, obsessed with fashion trends and musical styles, such as tight Italian costumes, modern jazz and rhythm and blues. It was a popular charm that Mod and their rivals, the Rockers, were an evolution of the Teddy Boys, another 1950s London subculture.
